L'Oreal Infallible Lip Paint Matte in Off White

L'Oreal Matte Lip Paint in Off White

L'Oréal are a top drawer highstreet/drugstore brand when it comes to makeup. Relatively affordable, and with some products rivalling my pricier faves (True Match foundation, my friend, I'm looking at you). So when they came out with a nude matte liquid lipstick, promising to be long-wearing, non-drying and with no flaking - it took me about three seconds to get on board.

I have the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Nudist Matte Lip Paint in Off White (Largely because I perpetually wish my lips looked like Lydia Millen's, and this is often her go-to shade). This is a nude nude - peachy, opaque, and quite pale - I use it dotted over Spice lip pencil from MAC or Charlotte Tilbury's perfect Pillow Talk liner, though I reckon in the winter months this will be a slamming statement nude lip with a festive smoky eye. Full marks to L'Oreal, incidentally, for including much deeper, richer, tones in their nude lip lineup for this range.

So. The formula. First off - the smell. Fake strawberries and fake cream. Boak. it does dissipate quite quickly, but if you're sensitive to scented products, give this a sniff in store first (cue hoards of people sniffing lipstick wands in Boots. There's an image for you.). It's a creamy, opaque, easily spreadable formula overall.

In all honesty - this is definitely more on the satin end of the liquid lipstick scale. This won't suit everyone, but I'm a bit fed up of having all bodily moisture extracted via ultra-matte liquid lipsticks, so this isn't a deal-breaker for me. It takes a good few minutes to fully set, which does give you some mistake-correcting time, and I do find that it's relatively long-lasting - I can get about 4-5 hours sans-touch up from this formula. I don't find that it's particularly transfer resistant.

Will I use this up? Yes. Will I repurchase? Probably not. It's not changing my life, but it is a nice product - one I'll get more use of once the summer bronze has died down!

Have you tried this formula yet?

  1. These aren't out here in Australia yet, but we're keen to give them a go when they are. We are with you when it comes to matte lippies that dry out your lips. It's quite tricky to find matte products that are hydrating

  2. I haven't tried these yet but I do like the look of some of the deeper shades. I'm undecided about whether to get them too, don't know how often I'll wear them really xx
