Beauty Pie Pro-Glow Superstrobing Drops - Gimmick or Gimme?

Beauty Pie Pro Glow Superstrobing Drops Review

Highlighting is showing absolutely no sign of slowing down as a beauty trend. In fairness, who doesn't want to look bright and fresh every day, right?! I have to say I'm pretty dubious when it comes to the mega highlight category (Iconic London Drops, I'm looking at you) but given I'm still a Beauty Pie member, the opportunity to try a slightly cheaper version was just too sparkly and tempting to pass by. And obviously it's a purchase all in the name of research, right?

Well. That's what I'm telling myself.

Beauty Pie's Pro-Glow Superstrobing drops are very much in the insta-famous tears-of-gold-on-yo-cheeks end of the spectrum when it comes to a highlighting formula. I have the shade Illuminati, which is a gorgeous, champagne-peach lustrous shade. I think fair to medium-deep skintones will get on well with this - if you're blessed with beautiful dark skin, this may be a little stark on you (unless, of course, that's what you're going for, in which case, this is your man). As you can see below, it is literally like a molten bar of champagne-silver-gold (is that a thing? It's a thing in my brain).

Now. Evidently, this is not for the faint hearted. I'm pretty sure there are unicorns fainting somewhere in the universe at just how shiny this product is. It is a beautiful shade - much more complex than I was expecting - I tried to show it's amazing multi-dimensional light reflecting-ness in the swatch below. Happily, despite the pretty extreme shine going on here, it is a doddle to blend. Even on completely bare skin, just bounce a damp Beauty Blender on top a few times and you're good to go.

Illuminati is, as I said, very flattering - a teeny drop mixed in with a light summery base (my base of choice for warm days is Omorovicza's BB) really gives that "her skin is amazing" glow, without being even slightly glittery or Edward Cullen-esque. It's even beautiful mixed in with moisturiser alone if you're wanting a really fresh, bare-skin-but-better complexion. Illuminati lasts as well as your average base product, and on my skin doesn't cause any weird oily separation of foundation. Score.

Overall? Worth a shot. If you love a see-from-the-other-end-of-the-universe cheek highlight, or just a juicy, dreamy, glowing complexion, this is a one-stop shop.

Have you tried any of these super-intense liquid highlights? What did you think?
