I may, or may not, have gone a little Clarins mad in John Lewis. Oops.
In fairness - a large chunk of the haul you see before you was actually the incredible JL gift with purchase. Amazing. I got to pick four cult products from a minis collection after buying two recommended products - not a bad deal. This deal has sadly ended, however Clarins have some really beautiful gift sets coming up for the festive season - definitely worth a peruse next time you're in store!
First up - Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I admit, I'm pretty late to the party on this bad boy. Multi award winning; and promising instant radiance, refreshment, and fatigue-minimising; this has quite a lot to live up to. It's a lovely, light-textured balm, and acts as a really lovely makeup base for foundation or powder. I wouldn't put it in the primer class per se - no improvement in longevity for me - but it is smoothing and brightening overall. I've been using this as a speedy de-exhaustion-er (?) after work before sticking some foundation on, and it is really lovely. I'm super oily, and I find that this imparts a bit of healthiness without stickiness or shine.
My other investment piece was the Pure and Radiant Mask - targeted more specifically for oily/combination skin. This is a really nice clay mask - I mean, at the end of the day, it's a clay mask - but it doesn't do that cracky, faux-tightening thing, and doesnt suck every last drop of moisture from the face. A little goes a long way, and the complexion looks really fresh and bright afterwards - more matte, yes, but not dry. Using this mask, then a dollop of Beauty Flash Balm, is my new pre-night-out go-to for a really brightened complexion.
